QUALITY AND SATISFACTION WITH 28PEAKS

After 35 years travelling morocco it’s the sixth time now we will go on a photo adventure. Our last trip in 2018 was an overwhelming experience and our customers were more than happy. Especially the days in the desert were very fascinating and the results were spectacular. For 2019 we have made some slight changes, as we wanted to include the „Blue City“ of Chefchaouen. Morocco is a pleasant and save country to travel. In more than three decades we have not one security issue.

Departure

Arrival at Casablanca

Play of light in Casablancas streets.

Day 1: Arrival at Casablanca

Arrival at Casablanca airport and shuttle to Chefchaouen. This is a five hour drive and we have to make sure to leave the airport at 1pm latest. We will take the freeway north via Rabat and Kenitra. Of course we will stop on the way for refreshments and photo opportunities.

The „Blue City“

The „Blue City“, as Chefchaouen is called, fascinates visitors from all over the world.

Day 2: The „Blue City“

The „Blue City“, as Chefchaouen is called, fascinates visitors from all over the world, but especially photographers because of the color, that seems to paint everything blueish, even the light itself seems to be blue. After breakfast we will have the whole day to explore this old Berber town that was founded in 1471. It’s architecture shows big Spanish influence, since in 1492 many Muslims and Jews, who were expelled from Spain. We will leave Chefchaouen at 3pm to go to Fes, where we will arrive at about 6.30pm and check into our hotel.

Cities of the king

Chessboard with many figures of both colors. Especially the lady and the king stand out.

Day 3: Cities of the king

Fes. It is one of the four cities of the king, besides Marrakech, Rabat and Meknes. Fes has one of the oldest fairly unchanged Medinas in Morocco and there are no cars allowed inside. We will have opportunity to visit the souk, experience the vibrant life of an old Moroccan Medina and probably will visit a traditional madrasa, if we have enough time. Again we have to leave at 3pm to arrive at our next destination, Midelt, in time.

Luxury desert camp

Candle lamps light the way to the luxurious tents in the desert camp.

Day 4: Luxury desert camp

The town Midelt used to be a french garrison. Before that it served as a regional center for the surrounding Berber tribes, that still are the majority of the population. We do not stay in Midelt and will leave after breakfast to go to Merzouga and from there to the luxury desert camp, where we will arrive in the afternoon and have our first photoshoot before sunset.

The fascination of the desert

A mountain in the desert shines faintly from the last rays of sunshine, while around the land lies in deep night.

Day 5: The fascination of the desert

The desert has its very own fascination. The light and the colors are unique. The sand dunes, where we will shoot, are in walking distance from the camp, but still we will have to use the 4WD sometimes, because walking there can be very exhausting. We will enjoy the black sky at night when we sit beside the fire and listen to the musicians.

Kenza

This picture shows model Kenza with her hair flowing, only tamed by her right hand.

Day 6: Kenza

During our stay in the desert we will have a morning and a late afternoon shoot with horses, camels and the Moroccan model Kenza. On day six we will leave after breakfast for Tingehir, where we will arrive at noon and drive into the Gorges du Todra, where we will have the late afternoon light for a photoshoot.

Road of the Kashbas

The stony pillars of the Kasbah of Taliouin shines yellow in the sun.

Day 7: Road of the Kashbas

We will leave after breakfast and take the Road of the Kashbas to Quarzazate. On our way we will visit two of these old Berber castles. It’s architecture is unique and sometimes you have this very special light reflecting from the old walls, plastered with mud. We will arrive approximately at 4.30pm at our hotel.

The Hollywood of Africa

The large square of Quaamour is in the dark but many lanterns donate enough light to people.

Day 8: The Hollywood of Africa

The town Quarzazate is called the Hollywood of Africa. Many international movies have been filmed here and therefor we will visit the Atlas movie studios outside town. The studios are an attraction by itself and become even more fascinating for us, because we will see the stables and shoot the horses that are kept there to be used in the movies. After the shoot we will leave for Marrakech. On the way we visit the Berber village of Ait Benhaddou with its famous castle. Arrival time at Marrakech about 5pm.

Explore the souk

A young woman is standing in front of a clothes store in Marrakech.

Day 9: Explore the souk

Of course Marrakech is a place, one has to see when visiting Morocco. Together with Mustapha we will explore the souk. But first thing in the morning is a visit to Jardin Majorelle, which was created by french artist Yves Saint Laurent, who used to spend a lot of time in his house on the property. In the evening we will dive into the miraculous atmosphere of Djemaa el Fna, the central place, where musicians, dancers, snake charmers and all kind of merchants offer their services. It’s an unforgettable experience.

Departure
